Call for Papers Thematic issue on "Statistics for Performance and Match Analysis in Sports"

Statistics is more and more used in all sports with a variety of aims, ranging from predicting the outcome of a competition to the analysis of performance, amongst many others.

This special issue is devoted to collect articles that focus on developments and applications of statistical methods and models in sports. Articles may propose new statistical or machine learning methods and techniques of sport analytics, covering both methodology and practice, applied to different sports disciplines, including non-professional sports and sports performed by people with disabilities.

Potential topics are focused on performance analysis and match analysis and include (but are not limited to): game outcome models, measurement and evaluation of performance, statistical methods for sport prediction, statistical models for prevention of sports injuries, tournament structure, analysis of referee decisions, within-game strategies, player and team ranking methods.

The special issue is supported by BDsports Project and the ISI Special Interest Group on Sports Statistics.

Statistica Applicata - Italian Journal of Applied Statistics is a green Open Journal that publishes the articles under the Creative Commons (CC BY) licensing agreement. Articles are indexed in the Scopus database. The Journal charges the authors neither for the submission nor for the publication of the accepted papers.

All submitted manuscripts will be peer reviewed, and they are expected to adhere to the standards of the journal. Authors are encouraged to follow the specifications and use the templates (MS-Word or LaTeX) available in “Authors Guidelines(see here).
