Abstract

The recent emergence of the open data movement and its rapid spread across the world are creating new challenges in the health and pharmaceutical field. The present study aimed at providing an overview of open data and their application in social and healthcare. We provided a definition of open data, and we discussed the current state of play in the world. Finally, we focused on the Italian situation pertaining to open health data.
